Designer Spotlight: Promisedland
Posted on 10 November 2015
This week we are proud to add a new brand to the FashionLife family - PromisedLand.
PromisedLand is a New Zealand label led by Timaru-born, Aroha McKerrow. The clothing is designed right here in New Zealand in her Timaru workshop, and is made in Vietnam. The workshop employs women who were previously trafficked in the sex trade. Based on the principles of fair trade, the factory helps women get their lives back on track, employing women who love to tailor and our supportive of the line. The factory also works hard to educate women so that they can start their own businesses and establish new lives for themselves.
Using high quality Vietnamese silk and cottons, PromisedLand features vibrantly printed shorts as well as beautiful silk tops that can be worn by all women of all ages.
The name, PromisedLand is a biblical reference and in the future, Aroha hopes that the proceeds from the clothing can go back into the community and help those less privileged.
At FashionLife, we are proud to support this worthy line. You can get your hands on this line, exclusively in our store in the Restart Mall.
