Brands In Bondage

Posted on 10 November 2015

With 50 Shades of Grey last year becoming a pop culture phenomenon, this year’s sping/summer runways are dripping with bondage inspired designs. Lines, geometrics and harnesses have all hit the fashion scene this year with Tom Ford, Zana Bayne, Gulcin Cengel and Balmain all presenting runways inspired by the hit film.

Zana Bayne

Zana teamed up with Marc Jacobs in February this year to create an assortment of
leather, belts, thigh high boot straps and a dominatrix-style collection. The unisex line
brings with it a strong attention to detail with intricate extensions of belts in the form
of chained harnesses. The unlikely duo planned for the collaboration to be “not only
interesting, but also functional”.

Gulcin Cengel

Gulcin presented a catwalk created from strong leather body harnesses adding
structure to otherwise loose silhouettes. Pairing playful prom dresses with strong
structural shapes, the collection was a refreshing point of difference from it’s colourful
and flowing competitors this year.

Balmain Resort 2015

Balmain’s fashion show this year caught a wave of attention after starring Kendall
Jenner as one of their top models. The bright and vibrant take on bond
age lines mixed
with strong silhouettes created one of the best collections of this fashion season.

Tom Ford

Tom Ford’s collection was a glam rock inspired, edgy and punk line with bondage
straps and nipple pasties paired with high slit skirts and evening wear. Mostly made up
of patent leather, models stalked the runway and brought a rock n roll vibe to every look.
