Style File: Emma Watson

Posted on 10 November 2015

Emma Watson first burst onto our screens in 2001 with the release
of the first Harry Potter film as straight A student,
Hermione Granger.
As the films progressed over the years,
Emma grew up in the public
eye - and as she has evolved
into the award winning actress, human
rights activist and
prominent fashion icon - we look back at some of
Emma's
fashion over the years.

Unlike many child stars, Emma (and the other cast members
of the widely popular Harry Potter franchise) have all managed
to keep their personal lives relatively private even while growing
up under the spotlight. Emma even holds a degree in English
Literature which she completed while juggling film roles, and
much like her famous character, Hermione, she is well educated
and has never gone off the rails. When she first graced the red
carpet, she was like any child experimenting with fashion. We
love this Boho Chic look she rocked on the red carpet at a
Harry Potter premiere.

Always sophisticated and age appropriate, Emma's love for
British designers and relatively simple dresses became evident
as she grew up. A big fan of ballet flats, Emma rarely wore heels,
and stuck with a more conservatile style through her teen years.
Rarely wearing jewellery, and still fresh faced - she was a teen
idol and took the responsibility with poise.

As the Harry Potter franchise grew, so did the designer offers
and sponsorships. Emma was a proud advocate for Alexander
McQueen, Burberry and Prada - often wearing their designs at
red carpet events. Her own style was still evident (she was still
wearing those ballet flats until the final film premiere).

Breaking away from the franchise, Emma began to explore
other film roles and avenues of stardom. Her love for fashion
also became more prominent over these years, and although
her simplistic approach was still evident, she became more
interested in silhouettes - often opting for cinched dresses that
nipped in at the waist and going for mini dresses. She darkened
her hair and began to wear makeup and heels - becoming a
fashion icon through these years as she began to get modelling
offers and covered numerous fashion magazines.

Scoring the role of Sam in the 2012 film adaptation of "Perks
Of Being a Wallflower" - Emma shed her Hermione Granger
look and shocked press when she cut her long locks down into
a stylish pixie cut. She also became interested in human rights
and became involved in feminism, speaking at numerous events
and becoming a public figure launching HeForShe, an
organisation
that calls for men to advocate for gender equality.

These days Emma keeps her style classy and continues to
take film roles. She is set to star in the upcoming thriller
"Colonia" and will appear opposite Tom Hanks in "The Circle"
which will begin filming in September this year. A strong female
activist and respected actress, we're excited to see what style
surprises Emma will stun us with next.
