NZFW: Hailwood

Posted on 10 November 2015

In their 13th year of New Zealand Fashion Week, Hailwood launched
a new line of sneakers, Chinese influenced fashion
and a 70’s vibe in
this year’s show.

Using a range of knitwear, silk and luxiorious textures and fabrics,
this year’s collection featured sleek designs with style influences
taken from the streets of Hong Kong. Models walked with minimal
makeup and swept back hairstyles, modelling both evening and day
wear styles.

Full length skirts, high waisted pants and boldly printed tops were all
staples on the Hailwood runway this year with a dark navy and black
colour palette. This came as a fresh vibe for designer, Adrian Hailwood,
whose previous collections have featured bold colours and prints. Instead,
this year's showing held a more sophisticated vibe - with careful attention
to detailing, cuts, pleats and the overall fit of the clothing becoming much
more evident.

In true Hailwood style, this year's signature icon (previously a horse head
and then a pineapple print) was changed out to a Chinese flower and
dragon motif to fit in with the cultural influence in which the designs are
inspired by.
